Track Meet #2

The original date of the track meet, it rained cats and dogs all day! In the afternoon, they decided to cancel and reschedule the track meet for the next day. It was such a huge relief! I didn't really want to sit outside in the cold and get poured on. Not to mention the poor track teams!

Riley getting ready to take off....

Riley took 1st in the 100.

Waiting for the start of the 200.

Riley took 1st in the 200.

Mission Call

Congratulations to my nephew Tanner, on his mission call! He is going to the Little Rock Arkansas Mission. You will be a great missionary Tanner...just like your cousin Garrett (and Justin and Cole who are both already home)!

Tanner opening the call....

Reading the call.....(Look at Tanner's mom and dad behind him. Love the looks on their faces!)

Thanks for letting us all be a part! I always get a little chill and tears in my eyes when I watch a future missionary open the call.

Still miss it

Brynn had to make a State float out of a shoe box for school. It had to have certain facts and information about a state of her choice. Brynn, (like her sister Riley), picked the state of Indiana. They still just have so many great memories of living there....even though it was 5 years ago! Indiana will always hold a special place in our heart!

One talented girl

I've been bashing my head against the wall trying to get this video to post to my blog. Sheesh! Anyway.....

I basically forced Riley to record this song. She was not in the mood to do it, as you can see at the end of the video. :)

She is really starting to play the piano well, and her piano teacher loves her! I didn't really let her practice through this before she recorded it, so she does make a few slight mistakes. But, I still think she sounds great! You are an amazing girl, Riley!

Track Meet

Riley just had her first Junior High track meet. She ran the 100, 200, and did the long jump. We went as a family to watch her. It was kind of a long afternoon, but a fun experience. The weather was a bit on the cold side, but that didn't stop us from having a good time.

Riley was a lot of fun to watch. It made me just want to strap on some running shoes and join her. I'm sure that wouldn't ruin her "Junior High career", having her mommy running along side her.

Riley running the 100. She came in first with this group. Atta girl Rye!
Riley showing us what place she took in the race.

Checking in.

Waiting for the 200 to start.

Runners to your mark, set.....

Riley took 3rd in the 200 with this group.

Smiley Riley.

Saxy Lady

Sometimes John will say to the kids, "I think your mom is sexy." They all cringe a little. But, the reaction that he gets from Jace is completely hilarious! Jace thinks that is the most scandalous, hair-raising statement he has ever heard! The word "sexy" A. should not be used when describing one's mother and B. certainly doesn't apply to me. John just loves the physical reaction that he gets from Jace. Jace says things like, "Ohhh, Dad thinks mom is saxy!" "That is so gross!" "Mom!, dad thinks you are saxy!" I love that he pronounces it SAXY and not SEXY.

Last night, Brynn, Jace, and Haley kept singing "Whose that lady". (They have heard that song on commercials for Swiffer). Part of the song goes, "Whose that lady (whose that lady) Sexy Lady (whose that lady).... They were upstairs laughing for several minutes about how that song says, "Saxy lady". I hope they stay innocent for a LONG LONG time!

Parent Teacher Conference

A couple of weeks ago, John and I went to see Brynn's teacher for Parent Teacher Conferences. She had a piece of paper that Brynn, and each of the students, typed up about themselves. The paper read....

Caring, artistic, and funny

Daughter of John and Heidi,

Sister to Riley, Jace, and Haley.

Lover of my family, my blankey, and all of my stuffed animals.

Who feels sad when I see homeless people, scared when people fight, and good when I help others.

Who needs love from my family, help from my friends, and support from my teacher.

Who gives all she has and puts it into sports, help to friends, and love to my family.

Who fears loved ones dying, friends having fights, and leaving my parents when I grow up.

Who would like to see world peace, the second coming, and my parents crying at my wedding.

I just about started bawling right there at Parent Teacher Conferences. Brynn is sure a special sweet girl! She cares so much for everyone! We are so blessed to have her in our family.

5th Grade Patriotic Program

Brynn just recently had her 5th Grade Patriotic Program. The program is for all the 5th grade classes in the district (there are 12 schools). The students performed several songs together. They did a great job!

This picture only shows a portion of the kids.

It just seems like not long ago, I was performing in the 5th grade program at the same high school. My program was called, "This is the sound of America" I still remember practicing with the other schools. I think that is when I had my first real crush (a boy that went to Ethel Boys School). When I told Brynn's teacher that I remember singing in the 5th grade program, she was shocked. She said, "You must be young!" Actually I think the program is old...oh wait, that means I am old too.

I was sitting on the other side of the gym at the top. I had to use my big camera lens. It cracks me up that Brynn knew that I was taking her picture. Love the face, and the two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Brynn's cousin Ethan was also performing in the program. He goes to a different school.

Spring Break 2010

Spring Break just ended for us. We spent a huge chunk of time watching movies, playing games, and just relaxing. It was too cold outside to be able to enjoy being out, so we hibernated indoors.

We have a game that we all just love to play. It's called The Settlers of Catan. One day, we played that game 3 times! That game can sometimes last almost 3 hours!

My nephew Isaac came and played, and stayed the night. After all, it's not a party unless there is a sleepover involved!

One of the days, we went bowling.

Friday, we spent the day driving to Jackson Wyoming. They have an indoor pool with a couple of water slides. It was a beautiful drive and we had a great time swimming.

I didn't take my camera into the pool area, because I didn't want it to get wet or have someone take it.
To see the pool, click on title "Spring Break 2010" at the top.
